I proudly own the sports mom title. I mean, it’s how I spend 90% of my weekends, and despite the sometimes insane car rides, I honestly love it.
It’s also one of the most asked about parts of my life. Whether it’s questions about what to wear, the best snacks to bring, or my favorite cooler, I’ve rounded up all my sport moms must-haves. Lets start with what to put on your body.
The Sports Mom Uniform
Every sports mom needs a hat that goes with everything, and I’m not talking a basic baseball cap (which btw, I love this baseball cap from Clare V). I’m talking a tasteful, wide brim hat. Janessa Leonè truly makes the best hats. My all time favorite hat is the Simone Hat in black.
As you look through these pictures you will see I literally wear it 9/10 times on sports days. It’s chic, practical, and protective. It also goes with anything - you can wear it with athleisure wear, or a sun dress in the summer. It also pairs perfectly with your favorite SPF. It’s one of those accessories that is definitely worth the investment, and you’ll find yourself grabbing for it more than you think.
Other hats I love include this packable vented straw hat from Vince, this ivory hat from Gigi Pip, this textured straw hat from J. Crew, and this cream and black hat from Erica Javits.
I love me a good puffer, and a puffer vest is truly the perfect layer for those long days on the field. You can pair it over a t-shirt, sweater, sweatshirt, or literally anything. It will keep you warm, while still looking cute. It is also perfect for the transitional spring months.
There are so many great puffer vests on the market right now. This is a super similar option from Beyond Yoga, this FP Movement vest has more of an oversized fit, I love a cropped puffer vest like this one from Aritzia, and this Kalamata color from Everlane is everything.
Every sports mom needs a good raincoat. You really can never be too prepared for the weather, and a lightweight raincoat is a MUST. My personal favorite is from Stutterheim. A raincoat is also one of those clothing items that I totally think is worth investing in. You want one that will actually keep you dry and protected, the last thing you want it to get soaked on the field.
Other raincoats I love - this navy Goop raincoat is SO good, another Stutterheim option coat that comes in the cutest colors, this mid-length coat from Lululemon is such a classic fit, and more fun colors from FP Movement, and it has a lot of pockets which is a major bonus on the sports field.
A half-zip sweater is an absolute MUST. It’s comfortable, chic, great for layering and breathable. At this point, I own SO many, in basically every color. You can’t go wrong with a classic black option, or you can go for a more nautical vibe with ivory and navy stripes. Every brand has their own version, so you can find a half zip in truly any color or material.
